Another Question

Can Clemson make an attempt at redeeming their sorry season at the Gator bowl tomorrow?  I await...

My lovely wife got me this belt buckle for Christmas.  God bless her, but it really should have been a Gators buckle this season.  (I am after all FL cracker).

The Old Problem of Evil

My wife is the kind of woman who has little interest in her career. She has a nurturing personality and loves to cook, bake, sew and knit. In short, she was born to be a mom. Except. She probably won't ever be. After years of trying we have exhausted the available medical technology that we can afford/are willing to do. It seems unlikely that we will ever be biological parents.

We have earnestly prayed for children for years. One can't help but entertain doubts in this pain. Is there a personal God, listening to the prayers of 6.5 billion people alone in an unfathomably large and cold universe?

Some seek comfort by demonstrating how comparatively good we have it. I know people that would love to have a wonderful wife as I do. Elsewhere in the world children are desperately poor or worse yet slaves. It is cold comfort though to realize that there are girls stolen from their families living in brothels.

No. Rather comfort comes from the realization that our hope is for eternity, not for this fallen world. Let’s maybe kick things off in dealing with the age-old problem of evil?

Welcome Sir Christian

Mr. A Lot is going to join us indeed.  Our third blogger, who has not to my knowledge selected a handle just yet (although I am blogging under my own name, I do not presume he will), is undergoing throat surgery today.  So pray for him please.

Huzzah!

We might also be graced by the presence of another old friend adding stuff to this blog.  My old friend Matt who was instrumental to bringing me (back) to Christ.

1 Timothy 4

1 Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful sprits and teachings of demons, 2 through the insincerity of liars whose consciences are seared, 3 who forbid marriage and require abstinence from foods that God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth.  4 For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, 5 for it is made holy by the word of God and prayer.

English Standard Version

Howdy Y'all

I started blogging in 2005 at a libertarian themed blog called the Beer Postulate.  I eventually deleted it for various reasons.  Mainly that I used too many swear words and was embarrassed, having become a Christian shortly after starting the blog, but not yet being very adept at curbing my tongue (or fingers I guess).

Anyway.  The theme of that blog was my exit from the punk rock/lefty academic world, to a free-market/limited government viewpoint.  Now, I am happy to say that I have a fellow traveller who also left his anarchist-punk activist life to follow Christ and enjoy things such as capitalism and firearms.

That will be the theme of this blog.  Hipsters, lefties, punks, activists, anarchist, skeptics etc.  I know your perspective.  I know the score.  This blog is to set you straight.  Or rather, to allow my fellow traveller and I the opportunity to explain conservative Christianity from the perspective of two dudes who have fully tasted the world and then spit it back out in disgust.  So.  With prayer and humility, we begin.
